FlixFinder ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the FlixFinder mobile application (the "App") available on the Apple App Store. Please read this policy carefully. By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

Information You Provide

  • Account information when you sign in via Google Sign-In or Apple Sign-In (e.g., name, email address, user ID).
  • Search queries you enter to find movies and TV shows.
  • Watchlist and bookmark data when you save titles.
  • Preferences such as mood selections and swipe interactions used to personalize recommendations.
  • Subscription and purchase history related to in-app purchases.

Automatically Collected Information

  • Usage and analytics data, including screen views, feature interactions, session duration, and custom events (e.g., searches performed, bookmarks added, content watched, AI recaps used) collected via Firebase Analytics.
  • Country or region setting used to display relevant streaming availability.
  • Crash logs and performance data to improve app stability.
  • Push notification tokens (via Firebase Cloud Messaging) stored in association with your account to deliver notifications.

Advertising and Device Identifiers

  • If you grant permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt, we collect your device's Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) to serve personalized ads.
  • Device identifiers and advertising data may be shared with ad networks for the purpose of delivering and measuring advertisements (see Section 3).
  • If you decline tracking, you will still see ads, but they will not be personalized based on your activity across other apps and websites.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the App and its features.
  • Display streaming availability results based on your searches and region.
  • Personalize your experience, including mood-based recommendations and swipe-based discovery.
  • Generate AI-powered recaps for your selected content.
  • Manage your watchlist, bookmarks, and viewing history.
  • Display advertisements to users on the free tier of the App (see Section 4).
  • Send push notifications about new releases, favorite actor news, weekly recaps, and promotions (with your permission).
  • Analyze usage patterns via analytics to improve the App's performance and features.
  • Diagnose technical issues and fix bugs.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

3. Third-Party Services

The App integrates with the following third-party services, each of which has its own privacy policy governing its data practices:

Content & Data Providers

  • TMDB (The Movie Database) — movie and TV show metadata, images, and descriptions. Privacy Policy
  • JustWatch — streaming platform availability data. Privacy Policy

Authentication

  • Firebase Authentication — account creation and sign-in management. Privacy Policy
  • Google Sign-In — authentication via your Google account. Privacy Policy
  • Sign in with Apple — authentication via your Apple ID. Privacy Policy

Analytics & Cloud Services

  • Firebase Analytics (Google) — collects usage data such as screen views, feature interactions, and engagement events to help us understand how users interact with the App. Privacy Policy
  • Firebase Cloud Firestore — cloud storage for user data such as watchlists, bookmarks, and preferences. Privacy Policy

Push Notifications

  • Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) — delivers push notifications to your device. Your device token is stored on our servers in association with your account. You can manage notification preferences within the App or disable notifications in your device settings. Privacy Policy

Advertising

  • Google AdMob — serves banner and interstitial advertisements to users on the free tier. AdMob may collect device identifiers and advertising data to deliver and measure ads. If you grant tracking permission via Apple's ATT prompt, personalized ads may be shown based on your interests. Privacy Policy

The App participates in Apple's SKAdNetwork for privacy-preserving ad attribution measurement. This allows ad networks to measure campaign performance without revealing individual user data. We do not sell your personal information. However, when you consent to tracking, certain data (such as your IDFA) may be shared with advertising partners to deliver relevant ads, which may constitute "sharing" of personal information under some privacy laws (such as the CCPA).

4. Advertising

The App displays advertisements to users who have not purchased a premium subscription. Ads are served by Google AdMob and may include banner ads and interstitial (full-screen) ads.

  • Before showing ads, the App requests your consent via Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework to access your device's advertising identifier (IDFA).
  • If you allow tracking, ads may be personalized based on your interests and activity.
  • If you deny tracking, ads will still appear but will be non-personalized (contextual).
  • Premium subscribers do not see advertisements.

The following tracking domains may be contacted by the App in connection with advertising and analytics:

  • googleads.g.doubleclick.net
  • pagead2.googlesyndication.com
  • app-measurement.com

5. Data Storage and Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. Data such as your watchlist and preferences may be stored locally on your device and/or on secure cloud servers (Firebase Cloud Firestore). While we strive to protect your personal information, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Data Retention

We retain your information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this policy, or as required by law. You may delete your account and associated data at any time through the App settings. Upon deletion, we will remove your personal data from our servers within 30 days, including your push notification tokens. Anonymized or aggregated analytics data that cannot identify you may be retained for longer periods. Retention beyond 30 days occurs only where required by law.

The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal data from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete such information as soon as possible.
